The Academy was founded in 1947 to promote and maintain high quality standards for family doctors who are providing continuing comprehensive health care to the public. One of the major purposes of the Academy is to provide responsible advocacy for and education of patients and the public in all health-related matters. Toward this end, a library of ‘health information for the whole family’ was written and reviewed by physicians and patient education professionals at the AAFP. The topics are also available on www.familydoctor.org, winner of the MM&M 2005 Healthcare Web Site of the Year. The content was selected for “the comprehensive, quality content” ease of use and availability of information in Spanish.
